About Kiota Jungle Homestay

An alternative to a hostel, Kiota Jungle Homestay is a family home that offers simple comfortable guests rooms at an affordable price. Three rooms (one double and two single rooms at the first floor, a two room apartment that has a shared bathroom and a kitchenette, one double and two single rooms located on the ground floor, all rooms having self-bathrooms.

For the past two years Kiota has been operating purely as a recreation place. As for accommodation, Kiota had an embryonic beginnings of only two rooms, it has grown into what is today “a home far away from home” with eight rooms and a very friendly team:

  •   Yussuf who manages the day to day running of Kiota sees to the bookings and the general running of Kiota.
  •   Zai who speaks mainly Swahili can be seen in the kitchen cooking traditional authentic African food, in the afternoon feeding fish in the fishpond, pigeons, turkeys and guinea fowls.
  •   Christopher and Emmanuel are lifeguards who manage the swimming pool. Other staffs are a bartender and one waitress and two waiters who are equally friendly.

Mama Iku who is the owner of Kiota also resides in the annex, on the ground floor of Kiota and is therefore easily contactable. She speaks fluent Kiswahili, English and French. One can hear staff referring to Mama Iku affectionately as Aunty Iku.

The house is fenced, has its own car park, two security guards and two dogs Simba (meaning Lion in Swahili) and Chui (meaning Leopard in Swahili), who are left free during the night. A District Police Station is just 100 meters away from Kiota.
